Now when I listen to the few Don Moen songs in your car, I remember you. And your car just makes me remember how I used to drive Ah Ma to market on Tuesdays and Thursdays when you went to pick the maid up. And we would stop outside market, and we would be in the car together waiting. We might talk, but sometimes it was silent. And then we would have breakfast together when we got back to your house. 'Magge Kon Lo' it was. And we would talk for a while after breakfast until you got tired. Then you would lie down before going out for lunch.
Lunch would be very predictable. Our favourite Esquire Kitchen; we would order 'Kung Po Kai Ting', Sambal Prawn, Asparagus and 'Man Tao'. You loved the 'Man Tao' with the chicken. Or we would go to the kuey teow shop in DJ, where you would have fish kuey teow and fishcakes. SOmetimes we might go to Nam Heong for chicken rice and 'tu thor theng' (pig stomach soup). We went to Sommerset a couple of times? The set lunch was good wasnt it?
I guess there were many other places you always wanted to go, but maybe time didnt allow for that. Jacks Place. Remember?? You were a fan of it. Oh, and we never got to go to The Ship, because there was no parking. Although we did say that we would go back there some day, it never happened.
